Athlete Ban's and how they operate

10 Feb 2019 by CPSAF

WE HAVE A BANNED ATHLETE PAGE AVAILABLE UNDER THE “MORE” BAR. We are making the following statement to clarify how the “ban” process works. In order for an athlete to be banned by CPSAF and POSA. Lawyers are contacted and consulted, boards vote and evidence must be provided. No singular president or board member can ban athletes. In fact in almost all the cases of ban listed below the individuals were defended by our national president. Which is clear in the evidence and ban letters issued to them by POSA. NO ATHLETES have yet been banned by CPSAF only POSA. This is not a decision or action begun by CPSAF it is completed by POSA and enforced by all national federations.
Athletes and affiliates listed below are banned from the CPSAF and POSA events. The reason for this penalty is listed beside the person’s name. BAN LETTERS ARE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC UPON REQUEST BY EMAILING: cpsafathletesdirector@gmail.com. These documents are made public. Ban’s are put into action as a form of penality when athletes fail to adhere to CPSAF or POSA rules and regulations or break code of ethics. THEY CAN ONLY BE APPLIED TO ATHLETES following an executive board vote nationally. If athletes are banned by POSA (Pole Sports and Arts World Federation) this was not a national enacted ban. Internationally this athlete has been banned by the decision of the POSA Executive Board and applied by either the International President or Vice President. Bans nationally or internationally cannot be put into place without a strong system of checks and balances by national and international. Nationally, we must provide strong evidence supporting our decision to ban any athlete for any period of time. Internationally full investigations are completed before POSA takes this action. No Ban is a result of individual decision nationally or internationally. Ban case files at the national level are available to the public. This is to avoid slander against our organization from athletes or their affiliates. Since they are typically unhappy with the penalty they have received as a result of their violations.

BANNED ATHLETES OR AFFILIATES:
Melanie Stuckey: Ontario
POSA enacted ban in 2017. Arriving at world tournament, after being notified of ineligibility to compete. Trying to go around an existing national federation. Registering for world tournament after being notified of ineligibility.

Kelley Sirois: Quebec
POSA enacted ban in 2018. Failure to properly withdraw from world tournament. Failure to arrive at world tournament. One season ban. This remains active until fees are paid back to CPSAF. These fees paid on behalf of Kelley Sirois by CPSAF were registration to compete and travel to Pole Sports World Championships.

Kelsey Robichaud: New Brunswick
POSA enacted ban in 2018. Permanent Ban for slander and/or defamation and unsportsmanlike conduct: This includes POSA and any POSA accredited National federation, affiliates or events.Indirect involvement in threatening behavior toward POSA and an accredited National Federation. Failure to publicly defend the associations when false claims or accusations addressed by her partner, Isaac Colemen, were brought to her attention, unsportsmanlike conduct.

Issac Coleman: New Brunswick
POSA enacted ban in 2018: Permanent Ban for slander and/or defamation and unsportsmanlike conduct: This includes POSA and any POSA accredited National federation, affiliates or events. Direct involvement in threatening behavior toward POSA and an accredited National Federation, unsportsmanlike conduct.

CPSAF currently, does have one pending national ban. This was begun at athletes request. The athlete has improperly withdrawn from the national tournament, without a medical reason. The athlete is refusing to pay a withdrawal fee (in accordance with our rules and regulations). This ban will be voted on upon if she fails to arrive at national championships on March 30th 2019. All evidence (emails, messenger, phone, text, and paperwork) will be reviewed and submitted to POSA, a lawyer and executive board before the final decision is reached. In this case, the typical penalty is a one season ban for failure to compete at the national level after registration. The ban typically remains active until that one season is missed and the fees owed are paid. If she does not arrive, this will mark the first athlete banned by our organization since establishment.

We hope this statement, clarifies the process for athletes ban. We also hope this helps those members and athletes hearing the slander from those who have wished to compete by not adhereing to both POSA and CPSAF rules and regulations in the past. We strive as a team to provide fair and well-organized events. For these reasons, our rules and regulations are strictly enforced.
